Volunteer Opportunity: Community Speedwatch Co-ordinator

🚗 Could You Help Make Our Village Safer?

Can you spare a couple of hours a month?

We’re looking for a volunteer Community SpeedWatch Coordinator to help organise and support our local SpeedWatch team.

This rewarding role involves:

✅ Coordinating SpeedWatch sessions

✅ Liaising with volunteers and local police contacts ✅ Helping schedule activities and maintain records ✅ Supporting efforts to encourage safer driving through our village

You don’t need any previous experience—just a community spirit, and a little time to help make a difference.

Community SpeedWatch is a positive, proactive way for residents to work together to improve road safety and help reduce speeding in our village. The majority of drivers slow down when seeing us but we typically report 5 – 10% of the total monitored going over the allowable limit. Educational letters are sent by the Police, and a driver transgressing more than three times will be visited by an Officer for discussion, with further action if necessary.

We are a friendly bunch and enjoy a good chat whilst keeping our eyes on the traffic! Full hand-over training available plus our supervisor (Police Coordinator) is always very supportive.

If you’d like to find out more about the coordinator role or are interested in volunteering, please send us an email to faulklandme45@gmail.com

About the role

As Co-ordinator, you will be the main point of contact for the Faulkland Group’s Community Speedwatch volunteers. You will help arrange sessions, keep volunteers informed, liaise with relevant local contacts, and support the smooth running of the scheme.

What you’ll help with

  • Organising Community Speedwatch sessions with local volunteers.
  • Acting as a point of contact for the group.
  • Helping welcome and support new volunteers.
  • Keeping basic records and sharing updates when needed.
  • Promoting safe, responsible driving in and around Faulkland.

Who we’re looking for

You do not need previous experience—just good communication skills, a little time to spare, and a commitment to helping make our roads safer. Full guidance and support will be provided.
